Bring election fever to your math classroom...
Check out our latest addition to the Elementary Math Gizmo Library... Mascot Election.
In this Gizmo, your students explore how the results of a vote for a new school mascot can be represented using tally charts, pictographs and bar graphs.
Will it be a landslide victory for the Wolf, or will it be a neck-and-neck race between the Eagle and the Lion until the final ballot is cast? To find out, students will have to learn to correctly interpret various graphical representations and how they summarize the story of the election!
Mascot Election can also be used to engage your students in classroom discussion of more advanced concepts they may encounter in the news media surrounding an election, such as the use of polls in predicting the outcome of a vote.

Gizmos are Great for Texas Teachers and Students
Gizmos are popular in Texas. Many school districts including Irving, Lewisville, Killeen, North East, Klein and Cypress-Fairbanks use Gizmos to help students achieve more in Math and Science. We recently heard from an Instructional Technology Specialist at the Harris County Department of Education, who loves Gizmos and is helping us spreading the word to even more districts.
The interface for Gizmos is intuitive and comfortable and the Exploration Guides are a tremendous benefit, both to the student using the Gizmo and the teachers instructing with them. As a teacher of all things Science, I am also thoroughly impressed with the consistency and accuracy of the content for each Gizmo as well as the depth to which each concept is explored. Multiple data representations are also truly helpful and a strong departure from other online flash interactives.
I have yet to meet a teacher who, after using Gizmos, has not fallen head over heels in love with them and I will continue to recommend them to any Science or Math teacher I come across!"

Thanks for the words of praise, David!

Our Customer Service Rated Top-notch
We received this high praise from a technology coordinator in Mississippi this week, who has been working closely with the ExploreLearning Professional Development team:
"I can tell you this...I've worked with a lot of technologies (hardware & software) in the last 15 years; and, I can honestly say that by far, the people with whom I've come in contact at ExploreLearning have been some of the most professional. Not once have I made a request or a contact, whether in person, by phone, or via email, and not received a reply in a timely and favorable manner."
"I'm impressed...and that's not easy to come by."
Terri Burnham
Director of Technology, Gulfport School District, MS
