New Feature: The 5 Minute Gizmo Pass!

Starting today, visitors to ExploreLearning.com can access every Gizmo in our library with our new "5 Minute Gizmo Pass."

Previously, non-subscriber visitors to the ExploreLearning.com could preview just one Gizmo per day. We realized that, as our Gizmo library expanded (and it's always expanding), allowing just "one Gizmo per day" isn't enough. Now all visitors will be able to get a real sense of Gizmos' broad course coverage in math and science.

This is good if you just want peruse what is available, but if you want to really take a close look at a particular Gizmo 5 minutes is not always enough time. I liked it better when it was one per day.

Rob,

Thanks for the feedback.

You're right that 5 minutes isn't enough time to fully explore a particular Gizmo, however; activating a 30 Day Trial should give a user/teacher ample time. That's our thinking at least.

Your 5 min. change is a good idea, but it really isn't enough time. If you aren't considering extending that time, it would be nice for an option of 1 a day or 5 min.

Lilia,

So you don't feel that the free, 30-day trial is enough time to evaluate the site and the Gizmos?

Our thinking is that the 5 min pass is perfect for the visitor who is coming across ExploreLearning and Gizmos for the very first time. For this person, getting a feel, albeit briefly, of our entire Gizmo Library provides more info about the Gizmo "experience" than a single Gizmo would.

Then, after seeing the subject area coverage and the wide array of Gizmos in the Library, the new to EL visitor will then activate a 30-Day Trial to explore the site and Gizmos in more detail.

Also, we are really making an active effort to promote the cross curricula aspects of using Gizmos in the classroom, i.e, using a science Gizmo to show a real world application of a math concept, and only by seeing lots of Gizmos, even if just a cursory, 5 mins or less look, will a new visitor have a chance to see this.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment on this issue. It's always helpful to hear from our users.
